Tilted Counter-Rotating Vertical Turbine: pilot feasibility project [TILT-CRVTpf]

Teknologisk innovasjon
- Two counter-rotating sets of blades rotating around one inner vertical axis
- A generator located below the water line, free of rare earth elements
- A reinforced concrete (more sustainable than steel) spar-type floater that rotates with the mast
- Static turret system attached to dynamic cable/mooring system connected to the rotating generator
Kompetanseutvikling
- Assessment of the integrated TILT-CRVT functionality from the 30kW prototype
- Simulations on integrated design of the TILT-CRVT
- Simulations on operation and maintenance of the TILT-CRVT
- Optimisation of component production
- Insights on technical and financials needs for future 2.4 MW pilot project
Realisert spredning av teknologi
- The TILT-CRVT technology has been presented to several stakeholders and conferences with a positive acceptance of the public
- We are collaborating with Innovasjon Norge to expand our technology to the non-EU market
- MoU with Indian stakeholder
Videre utvikling og videre spredning
- Next step will be to manufacture and operate a 2.4 MW pilot to demonstrate the functionality of the novel concept, which will be able to be used for off-grid operations (e.g., aquaculture)
- Piloting the technology will accelerate the scalability of our solution towards 24 MW turbines by 2027
- Establishing a local supply chain to manufacture the TILT-CRVT will enable to adopt floating wind for future renewable energy production in EU towards achieving the 2050 goals.
